Animals with Superpowers, Series 1

I worked on these illustrations for a children’s book for about two years and completed the illustrations in 2009. For Series 1, I painted with gouache (pronounced gwash), which is heavier and more opaque than watercolor. For all illustrations: ink and gouache on cold-pressed 140 lb watercolor paper, 12” x 16”.

Series 2 was done using watercolor and gouache. I decided to use the second series for Animal Tales. For all illustrations: ink, watercolor, and gouache on cold-pressed 140-lb watercolor paper, 12″ x 16″.

A sample of the Series 2 technique can be found here.
