After many years working in business development as well as finance in the corporate world, I decided in 2006 to pursue a career as a freelance writer and illustrator. I started taking art classes and working part-time as a freelance writer, editor, and researcher. In the last few years, I published articles about art and artists in small alternative local papers, created my own blogs, and blogged for a social networking site.
I recently self-published a children’s book, “Animal Tales: New Fables and Myths of Superpowers.” In addition, I currently work as a tutor for Wyzant, a tutoring service based in Chicago, and teach various subjects as well as provide business coaching to clients. In 2009, I created and wrote for Happy Faces Chicago, a blog about arts, artists, and culture in Chicago. In 2008, I worked as a freelance writer for Gather.com, a social networking site, on Chicago arts and entertainment. In 2007, I created, wrote for, and edited ArtStyle Blog, a blog-magazine-encyclopedia on the arts, culture, and lifestyle in Chicago. My previous work experience includes: Researcher for Inventables, a firm that provides design inspiration to Fortune 500 and 1000 companies; Researcher for professors at DePaul University and Loyola University in Chicago; Senior Analyst, Research Analyst/Asst. Vice President for financial institutions; and business development for consulting firms.
I have taken art classes at Ed Hinkley Studio, Lillstreet Art Center, Vitruvian Fine Arts Studio, Palette & Chisel Art Academy, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Columbia College, all in Chicago. My degrees include: B Education / M Education, University of Hawaii; MS, Finance, Illinois Institute of Technology; and MBA, Marketing/Finance, Illinois Institute of Technology.
I think art is an expression of the soul. Art is a depiction of our dream world filtered through our conscious mind. It is not so much the end product but the expression of creative energy that is the key to making art come alive. My goal is to imbue my art with love, compassion, understanding, truth, and beauty.
